MOI Launches Child Protection Specialist Training Program for Bahraini Counterparts

The Ministry of Interior has launched the Child Protection Specialist training program for personnel engaged in child protection within the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The initiative is designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and support the development of national competencies.

The program aims to enhance participants’ skills and professional capabilities through a suite of specialized training modules. These modules address mechanisms for handling child-related reports, criminal interview techniques, the prevention and investigation of cybercrimes targeting children, litigation procedures, the exchange of best practices in child protection, and an overview of relevant international laws and legislative frameworks.

Delivered through a hybrid learning model, the program combines distance learning with in-person training sessions hosted in the UAE, ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer and practical application.

The Child Protection Specialist program represents a key pillar in advancing efforts to combat crimes against children. Through this initiative, the Ministry of Interior reaffirms its commitment to sharing its leading expertise and strengthening strategic partnerships, thereby contributing to the development of an integrated child protection ecosystem in line with international best practices.

MOI Launches Family Counselor Program to Train Specialized Family Stability Professionals

The Child Protection Center at the Ministry of Interior, in partnership with the General Directorate of Competency Development, has launched the Family Counselor program in line with the Year of the Family 2026, in the presence of H.E. Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior. The program is designed to qualify specialists in family care and child protection by equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide guidance, support, and intervention for families facing relational challenges. It aims to reinforce social cohesion, strengthen the family’s role in supporting security, and highlight its position as a foundational pillar of a safe and stable society.

In his address at the launch, Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili stressed the Ministry’s commitment to the family as the nucleus of community security, noting that sustainable stability begins with a cohesive and aware family capable of navigating challenges with resilience.

He further stated that investing in professional capabilities in family counseling promotes a culture of dialogue and mutual understanding within households, enhances family cohesion, and contributes directly to broader community stability. Al Khaili stressed that safeguarding the family is a shared national responsibility that requires coordinated action across institutions, guided by societal values and identity, and supportive of ongoing development efforts.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry explained that the program marks a strategic step toward developing a group of specialized local professionals in family counseling, equipped to address family-related issues with competence and professionalism, thereby elevating quality of life and reinforcing social stability.

The program features eight core modules, covering family protection legislation and policies; domestic violence, its concepts, forms, theoretical frameworks, and risk factors; dynamics of family relationships; counseling and guidance methodologies; conflict and dispute resolution within families; cognitive behavioral therapy for victims; case assessment and analysis; data collection and interpretation; and the ethical framework governing family protection practice.

Spanning 25 training days and totaling 150 hours, the program integrates distance learning with in-person sessions, ensuring a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and applied practice.

The curriculum is organized into six training tracks, including Understanding Violence: Models, Impact and Prevention, Family Legislation and Policies, Family Counseling and Guidance Skills, Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal Skills, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Counseling, and concludes with field visits and practical engagement sessions.

The Ministry of Interior celebrates Emirati Children’s Day under the theme “The Right to Digital Knowledge,” which was announced by the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood for the year 2026, under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” President of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation.

This theme reflects the importance of empowering children to access knowledge safely and responsibly amid the rapid digital transformation.

In this context, the Ministry of Interior renews its firm commitment to enhancing children’s safety in the digital world by raising awareness of safe technology use, intensifying awareness initiatives, and developing systems and policies that keep pace with growing digital challenges. It also affirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation with various stakeholders and members of society to build an integrated system that protects children from online risks and fosters in them the values of digital responsibility and positive citizenship.

This comes as part of its commitment to enhancing community awareness of the safe and responsible use of the digital space, and keeping pace with the rapid developments in technology and artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of Interior Child Protection Centre launched an awareness campaign in conjunction with Safer Internet Day under the slogan “Together for a Safer Internet.” The campaign includes publishing guidance messages and educational content عبر social media platforms, aiming to promote a culture of safe internet use and strengthen the responsibility of individuals, families, and society in protecting young people from digital risks.

The campaign also includes a series of awareness events and educational workshops targeting students, young people, parents, and teachers. The Ministry of Interior Child Protection Centre, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality represented by the Children’s City and Khalifa Empowerment Program – Aqdar , organized a special ceremony on the occasion of International Children’s Day At the city headquarters in the Emirate of Dubai, with the wide participation of government agencies and community institutions concerned with child care, in addition to a large presence of children and their families.

The event was part of the Ministry of Interior's efforts to promote community awareness of children's rights and to consolidate the concept of protection and shared responsibility in providing a safe and supportive environment for children, in line with the National Child Protection Strategy and the UAE's vision of caring for and empowering young people.

The ceremony included a full range of recreational, educational and educational activities that focused on introducing children and parents to the concepts of protection and safety and building positive behaviors. The Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Centre launched an awareness campaign on the occasion of the new academic year 2025-2026, under the slogan " Safe School Year." The campaign targeted students, parents, and educational supervisors, aiming to raise awareness and promote positive behaviors that ensure the safety of students from the moment they leave their homes until they reach their classrooms.
The campaign focused on several key areas, most notably:
- Safe transportation to and from school.
- Adhering to calmness and avoiding pushing when getting off the school busses.
- Positive cooperation with educational supervisors.
- Promoting values of tolerance and welcome when dealing with new colleagues.
The campaign also included interventions thru radio stations to welcome the new school year and raise awareness about the necessary safety measures for students, in addition to organizing field lectures within schools to promote a culture of safety and reinforce positive behaviors among students. The center confirmed that these efforts are part of its commitment to supporting a safe and nurturing school environment, ensuring the comfort of students and parents, and contributing to a successful and safe start to the new academic year.

The Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Center launched an educational awareness campaign under the slogan "Together Towards a Safe Summer," coinciding with the start of the summer vacation and travel season. The aim is to enhance community awareness of child protection culture and highlight the most important issues related to their safety, whether during recreational activities or while they are in vehicles or public places.

The campaign targets all individuals and groups in society, especially children, parents, and those working with children. The campaign starts from July 1 to August 15, 2025.

The "Together Towards a Safe Summer" campaign focuses on key areas: preventing children from drowning by adhering to safety requirements when swimming, avoiding leaving children in vehicles, raising awareness about the dangers of direct sun exposure while playing, and encouraging the positive investment of children's time.

In the context of promoting human values and the spirit of community solidarity, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Public Relations and the Ministry of Interior Child Protection Center, organized a visit to the patients at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, which included the children present in the hospital, as part of the "Eidukum Mubarak" initiative aimed at ensuring their health and sharing the joy of Eid al-Adha with them.
This initiative came from our commitment to support this precious group of children and alleviate their suffering by offering words of encouragement and support, and bringing smiles to their faces on this blessed occasion.

Saif bin Zayed Attends in Moscow Graduation Ceremony Organized by UAE MOI and National Center for Missing and Abused Children in Russia

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended the graduation ceremony of the Specialized Child Protection Program, organized by the UAE Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the National Center for Missing and Abused Children in the Russian Federation. This initiative forms part of the ongoing cooperation between the two friendly nations, aimed at fostering the exchange of expertise and best practices to bolster community security.

The ceremony, held in the Russian capital, Moscow, was attended by an array of senior officials from both sides, including His Excellency Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of Emergency Situations, Civil Defense and Disaster Management of the Russian Federation; Her Excellency Elena Milskaya, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the National Center for Missing and Abused Children in the Russian Federation; His Excellency Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; as well as a number of senior officials and officers representing both nations.

Supervised by the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center, the program constitutes a pioneering initiative designed to enhance the capabilities of professionals working in child protection. Drawing on the UAE’s advanced experience, legislative framework, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies, the program reflects a forward-looking vision aimed at creating a safer environment for children amidst the rapid technological and knowledge-driven transformations of the modern era.

This distinguished program aspires to cultivate a specialized cadre capable of professionally handling reports of child abuse, refining the skills of child protection practitioners, empowering specialists to support and protect child victims, and advancing investigative methods and competencies.

The curriculum covered a comprehensive array of subjects centered around child protection, inspired by the UAE’s leading practices. It included principles of interviewing and assessment, mechanisms for preventive and responsive protection, relevant legal frameworks, and several other specialized topics aimed at safeguarding children and promoting their well-being.

Implemented by the UAE Ministry of Interior, the program targeted social workers engaged in child protection, as well as personnel from law enforcement agencies. It was attended by specialists from the National Center for Missing and Abused Children in the Russian Federation, members of the Russian Ministry of Interior, and a distinguished group of officials and experts from the UAE Ministry of Interior.

MOI Celebrates Emirati Children’s Day with Vibrant Activities at Dubai’s Global Village

The Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center, in collaboration with the Dubai Police General HQs and the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, organized a special celebration at the Heritage Village within Dubai’s Global Village to mark Emirati Children’s Day.

The event commenced with the UAE national anthem and featured a diverse program, including partner speeches, a performance by the Dubai Police Children’s Music Band, participation by Safety Ambassadors, a panel discussion titled The Role of the Family in Child Protection, children’s competitions, and a ceremony honoring partners.

Brigadier Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Federal Drug Control Department at the Ministry of Interior, highlighted the significance of the occasion in his speech: On this blessed Ramadan evening, we come together to celebrate Emirati Children’s Day an occasion that reflects the UAE’s unwavering commitment, under its wise leadership, to placing children at the forefront of its priorities, ensuring their safety, and shaping their promising future.

He emphasized that, in line with this vision, the Ministry of Interior operates within an integrated framework to enhance child protection, fostering a secure and nurturing environment that supports their holistic development. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to continued collaboration with relevant entities to safeguard children’s rights and wellbeing. The UAE stands as a global model in child protection, setting a benchmark for excellence in ensuring children’s safety and rights.

The panel discussion, which was held within the ceremony and was moderated by Fahad Heikal, Major Rashid Nasser Al Ali, Head of the Child Protection Department, at the Department of Child and Women's Rights Protection at the General Directorate of Human Rights in Dubai Police, and Shama Al Balushi from the Ministry of Interior's Center for Child Protection, and Anoud Al Balushi, Director of Events Department at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Revival Center. The UAE's vision in these areas, in addition to addressing and reviewing a number of UAE pioneering initiatives in the fields of child protection and its projects that promote a safe community and digital environment and the role of the family in protecting the child according to a shared responsibility.
